Secret Invasion predictions

My local comic book shop is having a “Name the Skrull” contest, so I’ve been forced to write down my actual predictions. Here they are.

  • Beast - I don’t know, but I would like “ape” Beast back. I actually doubt he’s a Skrull though.
  • The Cuckoo Sisters
  • Darkhawk - Most of the Skrulls will likely be B-listers. Hawky fits the bill.
  • Dazzler
  • Dr. Strange - Because there as to be a reason Night Nurse is nowhere to be seen.
  • Forge
  • Nick Fury - I also predict that the impostor will be shot in the head by the real Nick Fury.
  • Gambit
  • Havok
  • Amadeus Cho
  • Hulkling - But only one half.
  • Jessica Jones’ baby
  • Jubilee
  • Magik
  • Night Thrasher
  • Prowler - Quintessential B-list character.
  • Quicksilver
  • Radioactive Man
  • Sentry
  • Storm
  • Valkyrie
  • Wasp
  • Wolverine - But only because of the “hidden in shadow” theory given by a smart blogger whose identity I’ve sadly forgotten.
  • Emma Frost - I’m not a fan of Scemma. Bring back the Jeott!
  • Wong - Maybe he knows where Night Nurse is.
  • Venom
  • Spider-Woman
  • Doctor Doom
  • Captain Marvel - Actually quite on the fence about this.
  • Bullseye

Oh my god, this is an awful list. Let’s see how my inability of predict the outcomes of crossovers holds up.

Secret Invasion #1 Revelations Reviewed

Instead of giving my opinion on every issue of Secret Invasion as they are released, I thought it would be more fun to review the revelations. In other words, is it cool that Hero A is a Skrull or does it suck that Hero B isn’t a Skrull?

By the way, this series will be the essence of the spoiler, so I’m finally making use of the “fold” option in Wordpress. If you don’t want the key plot points ruined, don’t read on.

Secret Invasion begins today!

Today marks the beginning of Marvel’s new summer blockbuster event. Of course, it’s beginning in early Spring and will likely last until late fall, but it’s the summer event! And I must admit, I’m really excited about it. SECRET INVASION IS GO!
I realize that the premise, which is essentially a retcon-blowout, will piss off 95% of fans, I believe I have reached a level of detachment from contemporary comics to simply not care how sloppy and silly the reveals are. In fact, I hope Marvel makes this the more rediculous, polarizing storyline ever.

Now, since I haven’t been closely following comics since Civil War, I have only one solid prediction: Storm is totally a Skrull.

While I doubt that most of the characters shown in the Who Do You Trust? promo posters are actually Skrulls (No way Iron Man is a Skrull. Sorry, guys.) but I would actually be shocked to discover that the woman who married the Black Panther for now good reason is not an alien impostor. That is the only way Secret Invasion could possibly let me down.
